A fire in a Neston shed spread to a nearby house and led to one woman being taken to hospital on Thursday evening (July 7).

People living near the property on Raleigh Road are reported to have heard a loud bang, which is believed to have been caused by a gas bottle inside the shed.

The blaze spread to the windows and gutter of the house.

A spokesperson for Cheshire Fire and Rescue Service , which was called to the scene shortly before 7pm, said: "One female casualty was given oxygen therapy until an ambulance arrived. The casualty was then taken to hospital by ambulance."

An investigation to determine the cause of the fire will be launched.

Firefighters isolated the gas and electricity within the property and used a hose reel to extinguish the fire.
