TWO Runcorn firefighters have been hailed heroes after rescuing a woman from a burning building.
A fire crew was called to a property in Harlech Grove, Castlefields, at 1.45am on Wednesday, where they faced a blaze which had taken hold of the hallway.
Crew manager Gavin Hanson said: 'We broke the window in the hall and quelled the fire before forcing entry to the property, where the 48-year-old female occupant was lying semi-conscious on the stairs in heavy toxic smoke. Two hero firefighters went into the house to get her out.'
The woman was given oxygen by the fire fighters before an ambulance arrived at the scene.
Mr Hanson added: 'The fire started in the hallway causing moderate smoke damage.'
