A WOMAN was killed after being struck by a train on the Chester-Saltney railway line this morning.

British Transport Police received a report at 5.18am today (Tuesday, August 3) of a possible fatality on the line near the Saltney Junction area in Curzon Park Road North.

A BTP spokesman said: “Officers attended and a woman was found on the line, having been struck by the 5.45am Chester-Wrexham service.

“She was found unconscious, having suffered multiple injuries, and died at the scene. Death was confirmed at 6.12am by paramedics.

“As a result of this incident, train services have been disrupted but the track was cleared and handed back to Network Rail at 8am.

“An investigation is taking place into this fatality which is currently being treated as non-suspicious.”

The spokesman said no further details were available regarding the identity of the victim at this stage.
