A woman has been hospitalised with 'serious injuries' following a road smash in Chester this morning (Monday June 2).

All three emergency services were called to the scene on the A55 at the Posthouse Roundabout near to the entrance of Chester Business Park.

The incident happened when a car transporter collided with the woman's Citroen just before 7am.

Emergency services used specialist cutting equipment to remove the woman from the car and she was treated at the scene, before being transferred to the Countess of Chester Hospital where she is said to have suspected serious injuries. There are no other reported injuries.

The crash has caused significant tailbacks for motorists, which continue to cause delays for the time being.
