Witnesses to a suspected arson attack in Blacon are being sought by police.

A woman was at her home on Ludlow Road between 6am and 6.30am on January 25 when she spotted that the curtains by her front door had been set alight.

She managed to open the front door and throw the curtains into the garden, where a neighbour assisted her in extinguishing the fire.

Investigating officer DC Gary Mullins said: “Thankfully nobody was injured as a result of this incident and thanks to the swift actions taken by both the victim and her neighbour the amount of damage caused was minimal.

“I am keen to speak to anyone who was in the area at the time of this incident and believes that they have any information that could assist with our enquiries.”

A 40-year-old man was arrested in relation to this incident, but has been released on police bail pending further enquiries.
