THREE students from The County High School, Leftwich, were treated to an unforgettable inside look at the corridors of power when they were treated to a day out in London.

George Cloake, Jessica Rowlinson and Stacy Hancock were invited to spend the day at the Houses of Parliament, accompanied by their teachers John Bowen and Barbara Crellin, after reaching the finals of a national political journalism competition.

And as an extra treat George was presented with a special award for Best Presenter before going to Downing Street for tea with Cherie Blair.

The day started with a guided tour of the House of Commons and the House of Lords.

During a break in the ceremony George, Jess and Stacy were interviewed for an online schools' edition of Newsround, a new venture being launched in September.

The group also met Weaver Vale MP Mike Hall, who showed them where MPs were interviewed.
