A CHARITY’S Christmas party for children will go with a bang this year after a highly successful fundraiser.

The Wirral group of Coeliac UK is counting the cash following a gluten-free food fair at Ellesmere Port Civic Hall.

Organiser Sylvia Hughes said: “It was jam- packed and many suppliers said they wished they had brought more. A representative from Coeliac UK said that she had not seen a busier fair.”

One of the stallholders was Cake Chester, of City Road, which cooks gluten free celebration cakes to order.

Entry was free but money was raised through a raffle and a tombola.

The Christmas party, for children with coeliac disease, will be held at the Holiday Inn in Ellesmere Port on Sunday, December 5.

The Wirral group is also planning its first ever dinner dance on Saturday, October 2, at the Whitby Sports and Social Club.

Tickets are £22 and are available from Sylvia Hughes on 0151 355 7218.

Coeliac UK supports people with coeliac disease who follow a strict gluten-free diet. Gluten is found in wheat, barley and rye.
