Winsford has a secondary school it can be ‘rightly proud of’ following this year’s GCSE results, says principal.
Levels of progress in maths at Winsford Academy have reached the national average and progress in English exceeds national expectations.
Sixty-nine per cent of students achieved a grade C or above in English and 65% achieved C or above in maths.
Notable achievements in additional science, art, business studies, drama, English literature, geography and music have also been secured.
Prinicpal Andrew Taylor-Edwards said the results have ‘broken all records for progress and attainment’ previously achieved at the academy and its predecessor schools.
He added: “I am deeply proud of our Year 11 students who richly deserve these results.
“Throughout their time at the academy, they have applied themselves conscientiously and conducted themsleves with enduring kindness and good humour.
“They are well prepared for the next chapter in their lives.
“Winsford has a secondary school it can be rightly proud of.”
Mr Taylor-Edwards also paid tribute to the ‘talented’ staff, ‘committed governors’ and to sponsor Fallibroome Multi-Academy Trust.
And to parents, he said: “All the hard work, worry, nagging and support has paid off!”
