A FRODSHAM family’s plan to generate their own electricity has angered several neighbours who fear a wind turbine on a 15 metre high mast proposed for Riley Bank Farm would be a ‘disturbing eyesore’.

Hugh Pode said he was keen to support the Government’s renewable energy target and hoped to produce all the electricity needed for Riley Bank Farm by installing the wind turbine on a paddock attached to the farmhouse.

Mr Pode is seeking planning permission for the structure and his application will be decided by Cheshire West and Chester Planning Board.

Frodsham Town Council has raised no objection to the proposal – but some neighbours have told borough planners they are concerned the wind turbine would cause ‘noise pollution’ and ‘disturbance’.

One resident claims ‘the erection of such a turbine to power one domestic property is nonsensical’ and another that ‘the turbine will cause unnecessary distraction to drivers at a critical spot on this dangerous section of Manley Road’.
