A PRIMARY school teacher has dedicated award success to colleagues and pupils.

Liz Roberts, a music teacher at Dorin Park Primary School, Wealstone Lane, Upton, scooped a distinction at the National Teaching Awards after fellow teacher Carol Ayers secretly nominated her.

Last month, Mrs Roberts attended the awards’ regional ceremony at the Echo Arena, Liverpool.

She said she was “delighted” by the honour but is keen to share the acclaim with everyone at the school.

“I was very surprised,” she said. “I had no idea I’d been nominated.

“I’ve been given a lovely glass plaque. We had a lovely day in Liverpool with lots of other teachers.

“While I’ve got the plaque, I share the honour entirely with my colleagues and the pupils.

“It’s the pupils who make us all do the best we can. The entire team is fantastic, I couldn’t be anything without them.”
