A SWEET-TOOTHED business man is hoping for a smooth ride to success after opening a juice and shake bar.

Milkshake-mad David Hughes, 28, of Southway, Blacon, is owner of Purely Wicked Shakes in Bridge Street, Chester, offering innovative sweet-based shakes, healthy fruit smoothies or a mix of the two.

David said: ‘I love milkshakes. There’s more than 50 different shakes, there’s limitless options really. I’m also trying to do healthy options, like the 90% fat free fruit shakes.

‘You can add supplements, vitamins, energy boosts and hangover cures.

‘I’ve had a look at what people like and what I knew I liked, as it goes along I’m going to develop it and give people more choice.’

David is hoping to bring more than self- indulgence to Chester, he is aiming to become the city’s first 100% environmentally friendly business.

‘I’m also going to look to the carbon footprint and look to offset, trying to be as ethical as I can. All the cups are biodegradable and I’m trying to use renewable energy sources.

‘I’m going to have to wait until the end of the financial year but 10% of the profit will go to charity.’

His smoothies and shakes are made using local produce and there’s a 10% student discount.

David, who did a Business Studies degree at John Moores University, and worked for Corus British Steel, added: ‘The shop was an absolute tip when I got it. After lots of grafting we finally got it open. We have been running on adrenalin for the last few weeks.’
