PEOPLE living in a Crewe street are furious after the roadway outside their homes collapsed for the second time in months.
Families in Walthall Street were shocked last September after a broken pipe caused the road to suddenly give way, sending a truck crashing through the concrete.
The latest setback has now left many calling for action. One of then John Wilson, 48, said: 'I have lived her for seven or eight years and this has always been a problem.
'It's happened further up the road as well with the water board having to do the repairs. I don't know what exactly the problem is but the street is in a awful mess.'
A spokesman for United Utilities said: 'The original work in this street was to fix a burst on a water main.
'We have now been contacted by the highways department to say there appeared to be some subsidence around the original excavation and our team have attended to fix this. The work was completed and the road is open.'
