JOB-SEEKERS and students in Ellesmere Port are to receive a boost from a region-wide scheme.
The success of the Mersey Dee Alliance's Scooter Commuter initiative now means it will available to thousands more people across Cheshire and Merseyside.
Since the scheme's launch 18 months ago 75 people in Ellesmere Port, Wirral and Chester have been loaned a scooter to help them access work, education or training.
These are funded through the Mersey Dee Alliance by the NorthWest Development Agency.
Following this successful pilot, entitled the WorkWise campaign and part of the Merseyside Local Transport Plan, it is now being rolled out across the region.
It means more Ellesmere Port people can apply for transport support, the loan of a scooter or bicycle or a subsidised travel pass.
WorkWise aims to stop problems with transport becoming a barrier to people in target areas taking up opportunities of employment, education or training.
