WEST Cheshire College has welcomed 1,500 students to its new campuses during enrolment week.

Around 90% of people who enrolled were 16-18 years old, which brings the total of students in that age group at the college to 2,500 including those returning for their second year.

A spokesman said: “The most popular courses are construction, engineering and science and computing.

“At Ellesmere Port, it is the arts, bodyworks and health and social care.

“Altogether, we offer 125 full time courses, of which two thirds are based at the Ellesmere Port campus.”

Full-time courses on offer include bodyworks, business and professional practice, child development and access, construction, engineering, health, social care, public services and sport, hospitality and catering management, science and computing, specialist learning and support, the arts and travel and tourism.

The college offers more than 1,000 part-time courses comprisingŠ460 different qualifications to in excess of 20,000 learners, including 43 apprenticeship programmes and 321 leisure courses across the various sites.
