A beauty therapy tutor from West Cheshire College has been awarded the Celtic Prize for Education at Glyndŵr University after graduating with her Certificate of Education.

Aoife Green, 31, from Chester, was awarded the prize after demonstrating the most outstanding performance in professional practice of all the students graduating in 2015.

Aoife said: “Winning the award feels like an amazing achievement and I am extremely proud of myself. I was told that I was successful due to my innovative and creative teaching style.

“Studying at Glyndŵr University has worked really well for me as I was able to complement my studies alongside completing my required teaching hours at West Cheshire College. I owe so much to the support of the other tutors at West Cheshire College for helping me get to where I am today and I am delighted to now have a full-time teaching post.”

Aoife was awarded the prize from all students studying education at the university, including CertEd, PGCE and Early Years. Each student was considered by a panel and an overall winner was then chosen.

Course leader Andrea Rimmer added: “Aoife has a natural passion and enthusiasm for teaching which makes her a fantastic tutor for our students. We are all extremely proud of her achievements and this award is a further endorsement of our highly experienced and skilled team.”
