LEARNING Resources Section Leader Anthony Beal has been named LILAC Practitioner of the Year for his innovative use of learning resources within the Further Education sector.
Anthony, who oversees and develops learning resources for West Cheshire College, won the Librarians’ Information Literacy Annual Conference (LILAC) award for his outstanding achievements and innovation at the College.
These have included a Springboard programme focussed on active learning, academic writing, referencing, presentation skills, reflective learning and research skills.
He has also been responsible for developing library induction programmes for students; developing and embedding a virtual learning environment within the College; creative use of current technologies including iPads, Wii and visualisers as well as running workshops for colleagues through the North West Information Skills group.
Anthony said: "There are so many resources that can aid learning now. My commitment is to make sure the College embraces as many of these as possible so we can meet the needs of all our students through our ability to support their own learning styles."
