HUNTING with dogs was banned five years ago last week and Bill supporter Mike Hall MP celebrated the landmark decision with his Labour peers last week.

In the time since the Fox Hunting Bill became law, ending the practice, dozens of prosecutions have been brought and a recent poll showed three quarters of people do not want it making legal again.

Mr Hall said: “Five years ago last week, the ban on hunting with hounds became law.

“I was proud to vote for it when it went through the House of Commons. And I am proud that the Labour Party helped to ban hunting with dogs.

“The Tories’ pledge to bring back the barbaric practice of fox hunting shows that they have not changed.

“The days of hunting wild foxes with trained dogs has no place in a society that calls itself civilised.

“Despite overwhelming public support for the hunting ban the Tories, if given the chance, will bring back fox hunting. That’s why we need to continue to campaign to stop this barbaric ‘sport’ from returning to our land.

“I am therefore urging the people of Weaver Vale to sign the petition to help protect the ban www.backtheban.com.”
