A PREGNANT mum has vowed to stand by her rapist husband and visit him in jail with their children.

Annette Roberts, 21, says she will continue to visit her husband Paul every week despite the verbal abuse and attacks she has suffered since he was jailed for seven years for raping a 15 year-old girl.

Since the court case last week she has feared further attacks on the family home in Badger Avenue, Crewe where she lives with her husband's mother, Joan Yarwood and his sisters Kelly, 16, and Stacey, 15.

Bricks have been thrown through the bedroom window and front door while she stood in the hallway with their 11-month-old baby boy.

Mrs Roberts, who is expecting their second child on January 30, said: 'I am standing by my wedding vows, for better or for worse.

'I love Paul and I married him for life. He rang on Christmas Day to say how much he is missing everyone.

'The baby and I will go as often as we can and when the new baby comes, he or she will travel to the jail with us.'

The pair were married at Crewe Register Office in May. They met through a friend who had served time with Roberts in a Salford jail.

They are applying to have the closed visit restriction lifted so Roberts, who was born with one arm, can see his family without a glass barrier.

Roberts, 21, pleaded guilty to raping the teenage girl at knifepoint. Chester Crown Court was told he lured her to fields near Frank Webb Avenue telling her he had buried £6,500 in stolen cash there.

Mrs Roberts added: 'Paul's been in trouble for theft but never anything like this before. He plans to appeal against his sentence.'

The family are asking Wulvern Housing to move them to a secret address.

Mrs Yarwood, 44, said: 'Neighbours have known Paul since he was a little boy and have been very supportive of us.

'But we will have to leave here because we know some people are targeting us. Paul has been a rogue, but I will stand by him. That's what mums are for.'

His sister Stacey said: 'It's horrible but I'll always be here for my brother.'
