AN ANGRY town centre resident says her pleas to fix a water leak near her home have been ignored.
Betty Richard, of Dudley Road, says she has contacted United Utilities on three occasions about the leak which she reckons has been running for 10 days.
She says the leak has left a large pool of water on the pavement which has spread to the junction with Enfield Road.
United Utilities said it had not received a report of the problem until last Wednesday.
The company added it was not hazardous to motorists or residents but confirmed it would be fixing the leak this week.
Mrs Richard said: 'We constantly get told about the shortage of water and how important it is not to waste it and then this is left running for 10 days.
'It's muddy and carrying litter and leaves down the street.
'It's a disgrace.' A United Utilities spokesperson said: 'We don't have any record of it being reported before Wednesday.
'An inspector went out to look at the leak on Thursday. It is the service pipe which connects the house to the water main but is not causing a hazard.
'We have to prioritise leaks that are hazardous but we will be coming out to fix the problem this week.'
