A leak has left homes and businesses in Ellesmere Port without any water this afternoon (August 25).

Customers in the CH65 postcode area have been affected by the leak on Upper Mersey Street.

United Utilities is reassuring customers - some of whom have had just a trickle and other who have been completely cut off - that engineers have arrived on site and repairs will commence as soon as it is safe.

A spokesperson said: "You may have noticed that the water is coming out of your tap slower than usual or may have gone off altogether.

"We’re sorry for the trouble this may be causing you and we will get your taps flowing normally again as quickly as we can."
