WEST Cheshire residents can now watch council meetings ‘on the go’ via their smartphones and tablets.

After listening to customer feedback on Twitter and Facebook, Cheshire West and Chester Council has launched a new upgraded webcasting facility.

The authority’s digital marketing team has worked with specialist supplier Public-i to launch the latest version of the software.

The new service features improved agenda points, a bigger video player, sharing options and an easier to use interface.

Cllr Stuart Parker, executive member for culture and recreation, said: “Webcasting offers those who cannot get to council meetings the opportunity to watch how the decisions that affect them are made - either live or at a time of their choice.”

Webcasts can be accessed via the council’s website www.cheshirewestandchester.gov.uk.

Live updates from webcasted meetings can be followed on Twitter @go_cheshirewest or on the hashtag #cwacwebcast.

Bloggers and websites can also benefit as the update makes it easy to embed both live and archived webcasts in their own websites.
