What happens when Strictly Come Dancing and The Bill collide?

Well, see for yourself in this 36-second video of a male police officer and a female PCSO from Cheshire Constabulary bust some moves at the Congleton Food and Drink Festival.

The bobbies joined in with a performance of dancefloor favourite the Cha Cha Slide, with hopping, stomping and criss-crossing all in a day's work for this pair of good sports.

Cheshire Constabulary posted the clip, which was captured by Sarah Faulkner from Congleton Food and Drink Festival, on its Facebook page, saying: "Our officers attempted the Cha Cha Slide at Congleton Food and Drink Festival at the weekend. You be the judge... #topmarksforeffort #dontgiveupyourdayjob."

The video has racked up more than 85,000 views and more than 700 likes, along with dozens of comments praising the officers for getting involved.

Wendy Hamnett Was Lomax wrote: "They are the best and will have fun with the public, just wish more people would have respect for them and what they do, i.e. mainly the kids of today."

The comments weren't short of quick-thinking quips, with one punny viewer describing the dance as 'quite arresting' and another questioning whether the song was actually Jailhouse Rock.
