Dust off your ice scrapers and thermals, as temperatures are going to plummet overnight.

Rain, sleet and hail are predicted to batter Cheshire West and Chester, which has led the Met Office to issue a weather warning for ice.

The alert will come into force at 7pm this evening (November 18) and is likely to last until 10am on Saturday (November 19).

The Met Office says: "A cold northwesterly air stream will continue to bring heavy showers or rain, sleet, snow and hail through this period.

"Clear spells in between will allow temperatures to fall close to or below freezing – hence the likelihood of some ice."

Some of the heaviest wintry showers could produce slushy conditions.

Members of the public are warned to expect tricky travel conditions.
