Three males flagged down a car in Delamere Forest after dark then attempted to get inside during a worrying incident being investigated by police.

Officers were called to Ashton Road, Delamere , last night (Tuesday, December 19) after a report of a suspicious occurrence.

Cheshire police spokesman Neil Bellis said: “Three young males flagged a car down at about 6.40pm. After stopping, one of the males tried to open the passenger door which was locked.

“They are described as being in their late teens. One had blue clothing and another facial hair and a white hoodie.”

Police made a search of the area but were unable to locate the men.

The victim posted on the Kingsley Village Facebook page: “Just a warning to anyone travelling through Delamere Forest. We have just driven back from Helsby towards Hatchmere . We were going along Ashton Road and as we got to Barnsbridge car park three young lads waved us down using a torch.

"As I slowed down one of them crossed the road in front of me and went to the passenger door. Before he could open the door I drove off. The police have been contacted.”
