CHESHIRE West and Chester Council are joining forces with Flintshire County Council to litter pick the banks of the River Dee.
The council’s Streetscene team, along with other departments, will be teaming up with Flintshire County Council and various volunteers on Friday, September 16 for The Big Dee Day, when volunteers are invited to roll up their sleeves and tackle the tidal litter accumulating along the river bank.
The challenging task will begin at 9.30am at Cop Park on Sealand Road and participants will be clearing the cycle path and grassy areas of litter until about 2 or 3pm.
Bags, litter pickers and disposable gloves will be provided by Streetscene, and all volunteers are advised to dress appropriately, taking into consideration the weather and the amount of walking that will be done.
Parking will be available on the grassed area next to Cop Park, and there will be a gazebo at the entrance to the cycle way where volunteers should meet on arrival to sign in and hear a brief health and safety talk.
Juice and drinking water will be provided but everyone will need to bring their own lunch.
