VOLUNTEER drivers in the Malpas area are being sought to help the elderly and disabled.

The Chester and Malpas Community Car Scheme is supported by Cheshire West and Chester Council and is operated and managed on their behalf by Cheshire Community Action.

The project helps vulnerable people who are without private transport and those unable to access public transport, making everyday journeys difficult or even impossible.

Mark Reading from Cheshire Community Action said: “With a group of car owners each volunteering a little of their time, we are able to help make a difference within the local community.

“We’re able to give to some of the more vulnerable people we deal with, some of whom may not have seen anyone since the last time they arranged for a journey through the car scheme.

“The scheme can help transport people to do their weekly shopping, a doctor’s appointment or a trip to visit a friend or relative.”

Fuel costs are reimbursed and your insurance won’t be affected. If you feel you would benefit from the scheme as a passenger then contact the coordinator for more details 01606 350042.
