SPRING arrived at Reaseheath College when the season’s first newborn lambs were unveiled to the public.

More than 1,300 visitors descended on the agricultural college from across the county to see feeding and care demonstrations.

Other attractions included birds of prey, ferrets, chickens, rabbits, reptiles, a display of tractors, a children’s quiz, face painting and a garden plant sale.

Agriculture section manager Steve Roach said: “These lambing events give us a fantastic opportunity to show off the type of work we do here at college and the outstanding calibre of our students.

“The lambing events are very successful and we have had lots of positive comments from the public.

“Everyone seems to have learned something and to have had a really good day out.”

Reaseheath students, many from near the Chester area, worked around the clock in the college’s lambing sheds with 800 lambs expected to be born during the next six weeks.

The lambing sheds are open to the public again this Saturday and Sunday (10am-4pm).

Entry costs £5 adults and £4 concessions/children over three. Under-threes get in free. A weekend family tickets cost £25.
