Visit Northwich have launched a competition for budding photographers in the area.

They’re on the lookout for photos of the town and surrounding areas to help show off the buildings, wildlife and environments in the area.

If you have a great pic of one of the town’s timber buildings, a snap of one of the waterways or an atmospheric view of the countryside at dawn, send it in and you could be a monthly winner.

The competition launched in December 2015 and the first winner was Liz Wells with her striking image of the River Weaver at sunset.

Judges said the shot captured breath-taking colours, contrasts and wildlife, all set against the backdrop of tree silhouettes standing in front of the sun’s warm, fiery glow.

Liz’s image will now go on to feature on the 2017 Visit Northwich Calendar, as will each monthly winner’s pic, which will be sold at the end of the year.

Northwich BID Manager Jane Hough, has been delighted with the response so far and is excited to see all the future entries.

“Here in Northwich and surrounding areas we’ve got so many beautiful buildings, parks and environments and we thought it would be great if people could share their snaps with us to help show off our wonderful town.

“We had over 30 entries last month which was a really pleasing response and I’d like to congratulate Liz Wells for her shot of the River Weaver; it’s such an atmospheric, emotive picture.”
