PUPILS from The Queen’s School have beaten all-comers in the Young Enterprise Company Programme to win the North West Young Enterprise Company of the Year.

The girls’ company, Vega, produces and distributes a vintage fashion magazine throughout the Chester region, including local clothing outlets.

The team won the North West finals after coming top in the Cheshire competition and will now head to London to represent in the North West in the UK finals.

Managing director of Vega, Natalie Turner, 16, of Wirral, said: “This experience has given us all the independence to learn about our own strengths and weaknesses.

“We have learned how to deal with challenges and team dynamics and how to motivate each other even when things didn’t go quite to plan. It has been an extremely rewarding process – especially when we reflect on what the company has achieved.”

“We’re so pleased to have got through the UK finals but we’ll have to keep up the momentum if we want to win the top prize.”

The Vega magazine explores the roots of vintage fashion, focussing on style icons through the years.

“It covers top tips on what and where to buy in Chester along with discount vouchers, how to wear vintage items as well as blogs from top vintage fashion bloggers.

The girls are now focussing their efforts on sales, continued market research and customer feedback to enable them to develop the business further.

They are even looking at new markets in Manchester and Liverpool as well as selling the magazine on trains into the city.
