UPDATES from important community projects were given and prize cups awarded at Tattenhall Parish Council's annual meeting.

Village cups were presented to Ravensholme Court Residents Association for their work with Chester and District Housing Trust and to the parish plan group.

First Responders were also given certificates and a presentation was heard from Laura Carter, their manager.

Tattenhall Community Association gave an update on the Millfield site, where £45,000 has been spent to create an outdoor event facility for the village. The work is nearly finished and many events are planned for the site including a family barbecue and treasure hunt.

Plans for Glebe Meadow were explained by Andrew Hull and funding has been secured to carry out the work to enhance the wildlife facility and maintain it.

Mr Hull explained the significance of the four acre patch of land

'This meadow has had no agricultural use or has ever been built on. There is not much land like this left in Cheshire,' he said.

Sheep will be used to graze down the ragwort on the field. The official opening will be in mid-July.

Mr Hull also explained the Carbon Neutral project Ashton Hayes is undertaking and a meeting to discuss Tattenhall taking the same action will be held on June 26 at the Barbour Institute.

Matthew Morris, land agent from the Bolesworth Estate, gave an update on the businesses on Barbour land and how they see their future in the village.

The meeting concluded with an open forum where affordable housing was discussed for the village's young people.

Councillors said the village design statement, ready in a year's time, would provide some answers.
