SHOCKED villagers are calling for support after plans to build a wind farm in Rushton were restarted.
Developers Cornwall Light and Power announced two weeks ago that they hoped to build up to five huge wind turbines at Oxheys Farm, near Tarporley.
The Truro-based firm has taken over the discontinued project from npower who failed in their wind farm bid in 2005.
Now residents of the rural parish have called an emergency meeting at Jessie Hughes Memorial Hall on Sunday, April 26, at 4pm.
Parish councillor Ken Parker said: “There has always been a strong opposition to these plans in the village and the surrounding areas and a meeting has been called.
“Hopefully there will be sufficient people there to reform a group of protestors.
“Everyone I have spoken to is totally against the plans but perhaps there are those in favour who are keeping their mouths shut.”
Cornwall Light and Power is holding a public exhibition of their plans to build wind turbines at Oxheys Farm on May 1 at noon.
