A Vicars Cross woman has donated 14 inches of her hair so it can be made into a wig for a child suffering hair loss.

Claire Wilcockson, 29, from Vicars Cross, grew her hair for her best friend’s wedding 18 months ago and decided to keep growing it after learning about the Little Princess Trust, a charity which provides free real-hair wigs to boys and girls who have lost their hair through cancer treatment.

The Village Urban Resorts team leader had her locks chopped at Samantha Wild Hairdressers in Handbridge last week.

Claire said: “I was inspired after I read an article on a young girl who donated her hair. The Little Princess Trust is amazing.

“I love my new short hair. I would like to thank Terri Randles from Samantha Wild Hairdressing for cutting and re-styling my hair.”

Claire has raised £300 of the £350 needed to make her hair into a wig.
