A PENSIONER was taken to hospital suffering from smoke inhalation after her TV burst into flames.

The female, who was sitting in the living room of her home in Glamis Close, Vicars Cross, managed to escape to neighbours during the incident which happened about 5.20pm on Monday, January 21.

She was taken by ambulance to the Countess of Chester Hospital to be treated for the effects of breathing in smoke.

Neighbours attempted to extinguish the flames but were beaten back by the flames. Firefighters used a hosereel to put out the blaze and a powerful fan to clear the smoke.

The TV was completely destroyed and the house was badly smoke-damaged. Cheshire Fire & Rescue Service said it was “unusual” for a TV to burst into flames.
