Staff from Vets4Pets in Chester are preparing to pound the pavements for an animal charity close to their hearts.

Claire Jones, Charlotte James and Kerry McKenna will run the Chester Half Marathon specifically for the North West branch of the Greyhound Rescue Charity.

The animal lovers said they wanted to choose a charity that others may not have thought of, and hope to raise at least £200 during the run on May 18, the proceeds of which will go towards the rescue, rehabilitation and rehoming of abused, abandoned and unwanted greyhounds and lurchers.

Claire said: “Charlotte has run half marathons before but until now Kerry and I hadn’t run further than 3/4miles!

“Charlotte mentioned she wanted to do the half  marathon last October and Kerry and I thought we had plenty of time to train, so we thought ‘why not’?

“Plus we both horse ride and keep fit that way and we thought the running would help with that, but it seems we aren’t fit at all - Charlotte’s been running circles around us!

“She’s the one who plans our routes and our once weekly ‘long’ runs.

“We’re linked to the Greyhound Charity through the practice -  they do a great job and need all the help they can get.”
