Traffic was disrupted on the west-bound carriageway of the M56 on the outskirts of Chester following a van fire.

The incident was reported just after 4pm today (Saturday, March 14), between junctions 14 and 15, near Hapsford, forcing the Highways Agency to close lanes one and two.

This was to allow the emergency services to access the blaze safely.

Three fire crews attended but it would appear the van has been completely gutted. There are no details on the driver.

A recovery truck was sent to the scene to take the damaged vehicle away. All three fire engines have now returned to base and the motorway has been fully reopened.
