A DRIVER was trapped when his van crashed and went down a ditch.

Four fire engines from three fire stations, as well as the air ambulance, rescued him following a car crash on the Farndon bypass at 2.40pm on Monday, August 4.

Damage to the front of the white van, as well as trees along the verge, left the driver trapped and firefighters extracted him through the back of the vehicle.

He was able to talk to the firefighters as he was put on a spinal board and taken to hospital.

A red estate car, also involved in the incident, was left across the road after the crash and crews stayed for several hours ensuring the two vehicles were safe.
