SIXTH formers from Upton High School have been improving international relations.

The Year 12 students met Turkish and Yemeni students in Istanbul last month.

The visit was part of a British Council Connecting Classrooms conference. Students from the three countries discussed their schools’ eco code and environmental projects and took part in a role-playing activity analysing the pros and cons of building a factory in Bangladesh.

Upton students and the Yemeni students, from Al Khansa School, Sana’a also wrote a 100-word play which they filmed in Sultanahmet, the heart of historic Istanbul.

They will now edit the film and enter it in the Connecting Classrooms UK-Middle East competition.
