UPTON High School in Chester is in the running for a £150,000 jackpot.

Two of the school’s science teachers have been shortlisted for the final of the O2 Learn Awards.

Esther Bradbury, head of science and Keryl Woodward, head of biology, are confident their educational video Happy Hormones will win through.

The teachers stand to win £50,000 and a further £100,000 for the school.

Esther and Keryl have been shortlisted alongside six other teachers after their video lesson was uploaded to the O2 Learn website.

Their videos will be judged based on their creativity and educational value by a panel of education experts.

O2 Learn is an initiative designed to celebrate the UK’s finest teachers. Teachers are encouraged to upload videos of their best lessons on the O2 learn website.

Esther said: “We are extremely proud to have been shortlisted, it has got the whole school buzzing with excitement.

“We are urging people in the local community to get online and vote for Happy Hormones.

“I enjoy teaching that lesson in school, just without the colourful wigs and glasses!”

Headteacher Jane Holland said: “This has generated huge excitement and enthusiasm among our students. I’m so proud of what Esther and Keryl have achieved. We all learn best when we’re having fun and this video really works.”
