The Chronicle and Big Yellow Chester Christmas Toy Appeal is now well under way and we have been delighted by the response to the appeal so far by the public and local businesses alike.

The appeal is looking for new gifts for children from babies up to 16-year-olds. These presents need to be unwrapped so the right gift can be selected for the chosen child.

The 2016 Toy Appeal has also received support from Upton High School, who are also collecting new toys and gifts to help boost the total for this year’s campaign.

Karen Smale head of the RS department at Upton High School said: “Everyone at Upton High are pleased to be involved with this great cause. We have strong community values at the school and are determined to beat last year’s total of donations.”

Jeff Banks the Toy Appeal co-ordinator at Big Yellow was delighted to have the school’s support: “It’s great to have Upton High School this year once again, their contribution to the last toy appeals held has been simply stunning, with many new toys and gifts donated, which have ensured that local under privileged children and families have received a gift at Christmas – something we all take for granted but not everyone gets to experience.”

Donations can also be made at Big Yellow Self Storage (next to B&Q), Sealand Road, Chester CH1 4RN (call 01244 399993) between the hours 8am-6pm Monday to Friday, 9am-6pm Saturday and 10am-4pm Sunday. There are also drop off points at Royal Mail Chester, Jupiter Drive, Chester; Co- Op Westminster Park, Chester; and Chester FC’s Lookers Vauxhall Stadium.
