UPTON Heath Primary School pupils have showcased their creative skills with a design collage on their rhino, as part of the Rhino Mania initiative.

Pupils competed for the best design in a school contest, but when staff members saw the high quality of entries, they decided to include as many as possible on their rhino sculpture.

Catherine Gibbs, learning support assistant at the school, said: “We felt it wouldn’t be fair to pick just one.

“We used all the entries from all year groups and our rhino has come out all lovely, bright, colourful and cheerful.

“The children have all been looking at the designs and looking out for their friends’ designs.

“The rhino is going to be collected on Friday and will be part of a trail in the city where people can find the rhinos on a map.

“One thing we wanted to do was make sure all the rhino designs were on. Every child has had an input.”

The school has also received help in their efforts to spruce up its garden.

Gordale Garden Centre has donated plants to the school in support of the PTA’s outdoor working project, which aims to brighten the school’s surroundings via painting, growing plants and vegetables.
