FOUR people from the Neston area have died in a road traffic collision involving a car and tree in the early hours of this morning.

Cheshire police received a 999 call at 2.10am to say that a car had collided with a tree on the junction the A540 Chester High Road and Runnel, near Neston.

The car had been on A540 heading towards Wirral when the collision occurred.

Two men aged 20 and 19, and two women, aged 19 and 43, died at the scene. All families have been informed.

The A540 is still closed from the junction with Runnel Road to Boathouse Lane - although police say they hope to reopen it later this afternoon.
