LINKS with a Finland university could lead to many joint initiatives with the University of Chester.

The university’s Faculty of Education and Children’s Services is exploring the possibility of working with the University of Jyvaskyla, one of the largest research universities in Finland, on several collaborative projects.

A recent visit by senior lecturers at the University of Jyvaskyla’s Department of Early Childhood Education, Erja Rautamies and Leila Tuominiemi, marked the development of international work with the faculty.

The University of Chester’s PGCE Early Years programme leader and senior lecturer, Joy Roberts, said: “We are exploring the possibility of joint research, teaching exchanges, and students undertaking professional placements in Finland.

“This is an exciting time, and we are looking forward to taking this collaboration between the two institutions further.”
