Two ex-members of 1960s band The Tremeloes will stand trial at Chester Crown Court next year accused of indecently assaulting a 15-year-old girl at a city hotel 48 years ago.

Ageing rockers Leonard 'Chip' Hawkes, 70, and Richard Westwood, 72, appeared via video link from Reading Crown Court to deny the historical charge each faces during a case management hearing at Chester Crown Court today (April 5).

The complainant claims she was assaulted some time between April 1 and April 30, 1968, after she attended a Chester venue The Tremeloes were performing at.

Hawkes, of Laleham Reach in Surrey, and Westwood, of Ellis Road in Crowthorne, Berkshire, spoke only to provide their personal details and enter their not guilty pleas.

Their trial, which is expected to last two weeks, has been fixed for February 6, 2017.

The pair will remain on unconditional bail until then.
