A SCHOOL choir will be singing with the stars tomorrow at Chester Cathedral.

The 52-strong choral group from Tushingham with Grindley Primary School, near Whitchurch, won the Spirit of Christmas primary schools’ choir competition, organised by the Neuromuscular Centre in Winsford, sponsored by Dawsons Music and in association with Dee 106.3.

The youngsters will grace the same stage as Oscar-winning actor Jim Broadbent, BAFTA-winning Carey Mulligan, Blackadder’s Tim McInnerny and others for the annual charity extravaganza, hosted by Matthew Kelly.

The choristers won a digital piano for their school.

Entrants to the competition were invited to submit a recording of O Little Town of Bethlehem and a carol of their choice. The junior choir chose Turn Down the Lights by Mark and Helen Johnson.

Runners up were singers from Bunbury Aldersey Primary in Tarporley who receive a trophy and certificate signed by NMC president Matthew Kelly.

Tickets for the concert at 7.30pm are available from the NMC on 01606 861733 or email leanne.marchington@nmcentre.com.
