FUNDRAISERS have helped improve the life of a little autistic boy by raising enough cash to buy him a touch-screen computer.

Three-and-a-half-year-old Brad Swindley loves his new monitor and his mum Danielle, of Beeston Road in Broughton, says she, and Brad's dad, Chester postman Terry, can't thank James Hannah, Chris Davies, Robyn Holland and the regulars at the Offa's Dyke pub enough.

She said: 'Sadly, 10 years ago a local lad called Craig Davies was involved in an car accident. His friends raised money to buy him a wheelchair but unfortunately he died.

'The lads decided to donate the money they had raised to a disabled Broughton child and every year since then they have continued fundraising in Craig's memory with the money always benefiting a needy child from the village.

'This year they chose Brad who suffers from autism. Brad goes to a special school at Denbigh every day. He has a great deal of difficulty in communicating with us, totally ignores his little sister Kyra and has no social skills whatsoever.

'I thought at first they were raising money for Brad's school but they were specific that the money had to benefit him personally and they even made a home visit to see Brad for themselves.'

Danielle added: 'The touch-screen computer has been of massive benefit to Brad and we have seen a big improvement since he began using it.

'I can't thank James, Chris or Robyn enough. They deserve a massive pat on the back, not just for what they have done for Brad, but all their fundraising over the years in memory of Craig.

'This year they managed to get a signed Michael Owen shirt, which they raffled, and the Offa's Dyke pub held quizzes and other events to help raise funds.'
