PEOPLE and community groups in Frodsham are being invited to help plant shrubs and native trees at Castle Park on Thursday, February 21, between 10.30am and 3.30pm.
Three hundred have been funded by Cheshire West and Chester Cllr Andrew Dawson, from his Members’ Budget.
Cllr Dawson, the chairman of the park’s executive trust, said: “It would be great to get as many people as possible to help plant the trees and shrubs which will be there for many years to come.
“Planting is our only way of ensuring the woodlands existence for future generations because at present there is little or no what is termed ‘understory’ – trees which will replace the big trees to provide the woodland with its future canopy.
“All the trees – such as common beech and oak – and shrubs have been sourced locally and have been selected to encourage wildlife by offering scrub cover and berries. So please come along.”
Any community groups interested in taking part should contact Stephanie.firstname.lastname@example.org.
