OFFICERS from British Transport Police were out in force last Wednesday at Chester Railway station in a drugs operation.

BTP officers and a drugs dog were at the station from approximately 11am until 4pm today.

As a result of the operation 10 people were searched and four people dealt with for drug offences. Inspector Adrian Yorston of BTP who coordinated the

operation said: 'Today's operation is part of British Transport police's strategy to be visible and crackdown on people who are in possession of drugs on the railway network.

'We know from previous operations that a visible presence is welcomed by passengers who see it as a positive step towards reducing crime on the railways.'
