A KEEN walker plans to raise the roof.

Robert Dodd, 18, is walking the Sandstone Trail to raise funds to repair the roof of Brown Knowl Methodist Chapel.

Robert, a student at Bishop Heber High School, will walk 34 miles from Frodsham to Grindley on Saturday, June 30.

The church needs £7,000 for immediate repairs although the full restoration would cost £25,000. Robert has already been pledged £1,300 if he completes the challenge.

'This will be an exciting challenge for me,' said Robert, of Tattenhall. 'Despite being a keen walker I have never done a walk of this length before in one day.'

Robert will have his own catering service in the form of dad Ken who plans to stop en route in his motor home to provide lunch and tea.

Robert is sitting A-levels in chemistry and business studies this year and hopes to join an electrical course at Yale College in Wrexham.
