Motorists faced disruption in Blacon this afternoon as a large number of mourners attended a Traveller’s funeral.
Delays were expected around Blacon Avenue while the procession made its way towards Chester Crematorium for the 2pm service.
It is understood Travellers attending the funeral will coming from the Wrexham area.
A number of officers were spotted along Sealand Road ahead of the funeral and a field near Blacon Avenue was also been cordoned off by police.
A Cheshire Police spokesman confirmed no roads were closed, but ‘slight disruption’ was expected in the area ahead of the service.
The spokesman said: "We can confirm that there was an increased police presence in the Blacon area earlier today, Thursday, December 1, to help minimise traffic disruption caused by a large funeral that took place at Chester Crematorium.
"As part of this work officers cordoned of Blacon Hall Field in order to prevent vehicles from parking on the field, and damaging the surface.
"Pedestrian access to the field was maintained at all times."
