CREWE Railway Station is looking more colourful, thanks to staff at Crewe and Nantwich Borough Council.

The famous railway station, often criticised for its drab appearance, has been filled with flowers and given a splash of colour by the authority's grounds maintenance team.

Spokesman Charlie Griffiths explained: 'In partnership with railway station management, we have provided a number of planters to enhance the station's appearance.

'Many people pass the station when visiting Crewe and we want them to be left with a good impression of the town.

'We hope residents and visitors will also enjoy the floral planters on the platforms.'

Cllr Doug Butterill, a keen gardener, said: 'Our aim is to help improve the appearance of the station and therefore boost the image of the borough.'
